Alert Bay on Cormorant Island
October 1-5, 2026
Booking Will Open Soon
A little bit about this trip . . . .
We are thrilled to be able to offer this adventure to you. Alert Bay is an area steeped in history. It is the oldest settlement on Vancouver Island and rich in indigenous culture. Many artists have painted in Alert Bay including Emily Carr, Walter J. Phillips, E.J. Hughes, Mike Svob and Doug Swinden to name a few.
We have chosen the beginning of October when the weather is still pleasantly warm and the colours are beginning to show off their beauty. Should the weather turn inclement the Nimpkish Hotel has a large covered veranda where we can paint.
We are excited because we have booked 2 entire hotels for our group. They are just a short walking distance apart; The Nimpkish Hotel and The Seine Boat Inn. The rooms are quite rustic, but they are clean and comfortable. Alert Bay is on Cormorant Island which is a short ferry ride from Port McNeil on Vancouver Island.
The package includes 3 meals a day, served at the Nimpkish Hotel. A light breakfast, a bagged lunch (to take with us to wherever we choose to paint that day) and a served dinner with a few different options each day.
*While the Nimpkish Hotel does not have a "gluten-free" kitchen, they will have gluten free options for those requiring it and some of the rooms have a kitchenette (Seine Boat Inn) if you require a higher level of surety and are more comfortable bringing your own food.
